REFLECTION: BLACK HISTORY

Hello everyone. I hope you guys enjoyed this special edition of Esquisser. I’m adding a new post here and this will be at the end of each month. It’s not a long drawn out essay, just a short thought of sorts.

Autumn Reflection

I just wanted to take this time to express about Black history through art. The artists that were featured on this site, have experienced ups and downs throughout their career. Each brought their own unique themes that represents who they are and how far they have come. Sounds a bit cheesy, I know, but think about it.

The Harlem Renaissance represented freedom of expression by the boatload. Artists, musicians, literary….was everywhere during that time. I can only guess they spoke about love, anger, poverty, religion, I can go on and on, but you get what I’m saying. Even today, the renaissance is still inspiring new generations to voice about the issues that we face today.

For me, seeing their works has inspired me to be better, do better. I’m not just talking about art either. Just all aspects of life. I’m glad that you guys loved it just as much as I did. It always teaches me how far my ancestors have come…for us to have a better life. Not only in this month alone, but every day. I pray that this generation and the generation after can appreciate and learn too.

Leaving February and entering March.
